Jim and Susan's studio and garden are located near Lake Hodges, just north of San Diego, California.

Our pottery is a sense of self-expression - this includes experimenting with different types of clays & slips as well as firing techniques. We create work that reflects our life style. There is an emphasis on nature, as our second and equal passion is maintaining our Mediterranean garden surroundings, which includes cacti, palms, citrus, bromeliads, bonsai and orchids.

Susan began production pottery in 1975. She was a member of the Yellow Springs Pottery. She has taught extensively in both Yellow Springs, Ohio and in Escondido, Ca. She developed a school program for elementary students - throwing pots, hand building projects, including models of California missions. Susan's ceramics have been displayed in numerous galleries & will be included in Raku 500 book to be published in Spring 2011.

Forms are designed and thrown by Susan. Figures are handbuilt and sculpted. All pieces are fired in the American Raku process.

Additionally, we enjoy pit firing our ceramics with friends and family at the beach, desert, and while camping in the Sierra mountains and southern California deserts.

The garden/studio is open for sales by appointment. For more information about ordering or visiting the studio, please contact us. We would enjoy hearing from you.
