About Us
Jim and Susan's studio and garden are located in the Lake Hodges community of Lomas Serenas, just north of San Diego, California.
Our pottery is a sense of self-expression. We create work that reflects our life style - this includes experimenting with different types of clays & slips as well as firing techniques.
There is an emphasis on "garden art", as our second and equal passion is maintaining our garden surroundings with bonsai, cacti, palms, citrus and bromeliads and orchids. Handmade lamps for outdoor lighting, candle "luminarias", birdhouses, feeders and urns are situated throughout.
Susan began production pottery in 1975. She was a member of the Yellow Springs Pottery. She has taught extensively in both Yellow Springs and in Escondido, Ca. She developed a school program for elementary students - throwing pots, hand building projects, including models of California missions. Susan's ceramics have been displayed in numerous galleries.
Forms are designed and thrown by Susan. Handles and knobs are handbuilt and sculptural, and glazed with a combination of copper metallic and low-fire glaze accents.
Additionally, they enjoy pit fires with friends and family at the beach, desert, and while camping in the Sierra mountains and southern California deserts.
